Metal Enclosures Design Process
2023-10-04 08:51The metal enclosures design process usually includes the following steps:
Determine the requirements: clarify the function and use of the shell as well as the requirements on appearance, size, material, etc., and communicate and confirm with the customer or project team.
Preliminary design: Determine the overall shape and structure of the shell according to the requirements, and make preliminary sketches or hand-drawn designs.
3D modeling: Using computer aided design (CAD) software for 3D modeling, drawing the exact geometry of the shell in the design software and adding the necessary details such as features, holes, and connections.
Material selection: According to the needs and design requirements of the shell, select the appropriate sheet metal materials, such as cold-rolled plate, stainless steel plate, aluminum alloy plate, etc.
Structural analysis: Structural analysis such as finite element analysis (FEA) is performed to evaluate the strength, stiffness and stability of the housing under stress to optimize the design and ensure that the housing meets the requirements for use.
Process planning: According to the shape and structure of the shell, formulate the corresponding sheet metal processing process plan. Consider material cutting, bending, stamping, welding and other process steps, and determine the required molds, equipment and tooling.
Manufacturing drawings: Generate detailed manufacturing drawings based on 3D models, including development drawings, part drawings, assembly drawings, etc.
Sample production: Sample production according to the design drawings, the use of processing equipment and technology for material cutting, bending, stamping, welding and other processes, and finally complete the sample of the shell.
Sample evaluation and adjustment: The sample is evaluated and tested to verify that the function and performance of the housing meet the design requirements. If necessary, make necessary adjustments and improvements until the requirements are met.
Mass production: After sample confirmation, mass production is carried out according to the design and manufacturing drawings, and the corresponding sheet metal processing technology and equipment are used to ensure the quality and consistency of the shell.
